As I mentioned in the last newsletter, Iโve been taking the bus quite frequently. On one of my recent rides, I noticed somethingโฆ THREE people around me were all watching the drama "Lovely Runner" in different ways!! ๐ One was watching the latest episode, another was enjoying the shorts on YouTube, and the third was browsing Instagram pictures from past episodes. Funny right? ๐
"Lovely Runner" is incredibly popular these days both in Korea and abroad. So, let's dive into it today! ๐ซถ

I) Synopsis of โLovely Runnerโ
"Lovely Runner," known as "์ ์ฌ ์ ๊ณ ํ์ด" in Korean, features two main characters: Sunjae and Im Sol. Amid her despair, top star Sunjae is Im Sol's only glimmer of hope. However, her world is shattered when she receives the devastating news of Sunjae's tragic death. Overwhelmed with grief, Sol wakes up crying, only to find herself transported 15 years into the past when Sunjae is still alive. ๐คฏ
Determined to seize this second chance, Sol resolves to do everything in her power to save Sunjae. In this past timeline, Sunjae is a dedicated student focused solely on swimming. But there's an intriguing twist: How does Sol, who had never heard of Sunjae until the previous day, know his name? ๐ง
๐ฌ Letโs break down the title of the drama โ์ ์ฌ ์
๊ณ ํ์ดโ:
์ ์ฌ | Seon-jae | Male characterโs name |
์ ๊ณ | eop-go | from the verb ์ ๋ค which means "to carry on one's back" and โ-๊ณ " which links it to the next action. |
ํ์ด | twieo | from the the verb ํ๋ค (twida), which means "to run away" or "to flee." |
Putting it all together, the sentence "์ ์ฌ ์ ๊ณ ํ์ด" translates to "Carry Seon-jae on your back and run away!"
